Mentoring a released prisoner can be one of the most rewarding things you'll ever do. You will change the life of those you work with. Your life will be changed in ways you can’t imagine.
Become a mentor.
You will be trained before you begin the program. Training continues throughout your service. After you begin, you will meet once a month with other mentors to share joys, concerns and information.
Yes. Just as you would handle any meeting with a person you don't know well, you will always meet in a public place and you will be trained to recognize and avoid potentially risky situations.
An experienced mentor coordinator will be available at all times to field your questions. We will provide contacts for services and emergencies.
This is a Christian, program. While Christian faith is not a requirement for participation by prisoners, it is based on Biblical principles. Mentors should be Biblically grounded believers.
To be a mentor you must be over 21, emotionally mature and a biblically-grounded Christian.
Criminal record checks will be run on all mentor applicants to ensure the safety of participants and security of the facility. If you have a record, it will not necessarily disqualify you. Each case will be handled on an individual basis.
