The field is down to two for North Adams mayor after Tuesday's primary.
Tom Bernard and Bob Moulton Jr. were the top two vote-getters in the field of five, and will square off in November's general election.
Outside North Adams's polling place Tuesday, Jake Boillat said he cast his ballot for Bernard.
"I think North Adams would proper under his leadership and also he would represent a new and younger generation, which I think is needed in North Adams," Boillat said.
And Bill Galli said Moulton earned his vote. "I like his idea of regionalization of services, safety, education, so forth," Galli said.
More than 18 percent of registered voters cast ballots. Ron O'Brien, an elections official, said at midday Tuesday that he thought 10 to 15 percent would be a good turnout, considering that the mayoral primary was the only race on the ballot.
The winner in November will be just the third mayor in Berkshire County's second-largest community since 1984. This is the first time since John Barrett became mayor back then that the seat is open.
The incumbent mayor, Dick Alcombright, is not running for re-election after four terms in office.
