Diana Alvarez And Magdalena Gómez

Diana Alvarez, singer, songwriter, poet, composer and scholar, and Magdalena Gómez, playwright, poet, author, motivational speaker and social activist, joined Raquel Obregon on Tertulia. They spoke about how communities can help immigrant children.

Gómez and Alvarez will perform on Sunday, March 31 from 2-4 p.m. at Art for the Soul Gallery in Springfield’s Tower Square, 1500 Main St. All proceeds will be donated to Raíces, a non profit agency in Texas that promotes justice by providing free and low cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families and refugees.

Raquel was born in Lima, Peru. She graduated from the University of San Marcos, where she studied Mathematics, and subsequently became a high school math teacher. She began working at New England Public Media in 2004, as the co-host of Tertulia. In 2010 Raquel took over as full-time host of the program.
