New England Public Radio is seeking high school students interested in audio journalism to participate in the spring session of its Media Lab program.
Launched in 2016 out of New England Public Radio's downtown Springfield headquarters, NEPR Media Lab is a youth initiative powered by the art of storytelling. In an after-school setting that offers a safe and supportive environment and the opportunity to have fun, students become part of a growing community of young people with something to say and the skills to make their voices heard.
"Students who are interested and excited to learn how to produce for radio, podcasts, and different forms of audio journalism are encouraged to apply," said Media Lab Director Carlos McBride. "We meet twice a week and encourage students to have fun while getting hands-on experience."
Media Lab meets twice a week during the twelve-week session. The spring semester class begins the week of February 26. Students from Springfield and Holyoke high schools will be given priority, but all are welcome to apply.
Students can apply online at NEPR.net/medialab - look for the blue "apply here" button. Applications for the spring semester are due by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018.
