The Pioneer Valley Planning Commission, which is based in Springfield, Massachusetts, has named a new executive director.

The PVPC is a regional planning agency for the 43 cities and towns in Hampshire and Hampden counties.

Its commissioners have voted to appoint Kimberly Robinson as their new executive director. She currently leads a regional planning agency in Nevada.

"I think there is tremendous work to be done to ensure that state and federal funding continues to come to western Massachusetts and that we continue to move forward in our transportation work and housing rehabilitation work," she said. "There's just so much to be done."

Robinson will replace Tim Brennan, who's retiring after more than 40 years. She plans to start work in the fall.
