TD Bank has reversed itself and decided to keep a branch open in a Springfield, Massachusetts, neighborhood — at least part-time.

Last October, TD Bank announced it was closing a branch in Springfield's Mason Square. Today was supposed to be its last day.

But customers and state lawmakers challenged the decision. Senator Elizabeth Warren, Senator Ed Markey, and Rep. Richard Neal also protested the move.

The bank has now announced it will keep the branch open on a reduced schedule of Mondays and Fridays.

Georgette Haines lives near the branch and said she wasn't happy when she heard it was closing.

"I was like, oh my God, this is in my neighborhood, and it's so close for me, 'cause I'm right up the hill," she said. "And I was like, oh man, I have to go far out now, you know? But to hear they're going to be open for a few days, I'm happy about that... very happy about that," she said.

In a statement, the bank said, "We reached this decision based on feedback from the community."
