Michael McCabe says he plans to ask for a recount in the Westfield, Massachusetts, mayoral election after Tuesday's unofficial results put him 97 votes behind Don Humason — out of almost 10,000 total votes.
On election night, both men agreed that neither would declare victory since the margin was so thin.
Although the city clerk said almost all the ballots had been counted, including most absentee ballots, McCabe said it's simply prudent to make sure there were no mistakes.
"It's more work for me [and] unfortunately, it's also more work for City Hall," McCabe said. "But it's part of the election process."
