Four bodies found in a home in central Massachusetts are a woman and three children, according to authorities.

The bodies were discovered in West Brookfield, a town of about 4,000 between Worcester and Springfield.

The children were two boys, ages five and two, and a seven-year-old girl.

The Boston Globe reported that police responded to the home after getting a call from a man who requested they conduct a well-being check.

West Brookfield resident Laurie Jamilowski said news of the deaths surprised her.

"I mean, this has been -- it's such a quiet town," she said. "I've been here for 20 years, and there's never been anything like this happen before. My heart goes out to the family, and especially with the three kids. Just so heartbroken."

At a press conference, Worcester District Attorney Joe Early said the deaths are being treated as suspicious, and that forensic scientists from the State Police Crime Lab have been sent to the scene.
