All Connecticut Voters To Receive Mail-In Ballot For August Primary

John Froschauer

Connecticut Republican lawmakers oppose Democratic Governor Ned Lamont’s executive order expanding the use of absentee ballots for the August 11 primary

They say it's unconstitutional.

Lamont disagrees.

“We can’t have them trying to undercut the public health premise for why we are trying to do the absentee ballot. I made it very specific in my EO that it is related to the fact that we don’t have a vaccine. If we have a vaccine before our vote in August, then we don't have to have this EO. ”

Lamont says he’s prepared to meet with legislative leaders to work it out.

Senate Republican Minority Leader Len Fasano says the proposed drop box method for collecting the absentee ballots presents security issues.
