Anonymous Reporting App Aims To Thwart School Shootings

A Connecticut-based group looking to prevent school shootings has launched an anonymous reporting system for students wishing to identify at-risk individuals.

The group, Sandy Hook Promise, says the system allows concerned students to submit a tip on a smartphone app, on a website, or by calling a hotline.

The group released a public service announcement Thursday showing a teen talking about gun violence while loading an assault rifle.

"Being bullied, the obsession with guns, even posting on Instagram about shooting up the school... I mean, no one said anything," he says. "I'm sure tomorrow somebody'll wish they had said something."

Sandy Hook Promise cites research that says attackers in four out of five school shootings told someone of their intentions.
