A third retail marijuana shop is set to open in Massachusetts.

Alternative Therapies Group in Salem has received final licensing approval from the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission, and could begin retail sales as soon as this weekend.

The shop currently operates as a cannabis dispensary serving registered patients.

The first two recreational marijuana shops on the U.S. East Coast opened last month in Leicester and Northampton. Marijuana is already sold legally in six Western states.

The sales also include edibles such as brownies and chocolate bars.

The openings come more than two full years after Massachusetts voters authorized recreational marijuana sales to adults.

The shops have generated millions in sales and drawn customers from across New England. They've also drawn complaints from some local residents concerned about increased traffic delays.
