The 6th Annual College Transition Conference for Academic, Campus, and Life Success, hosted by MGM College Services, will be Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025, from 11am to 1 pm CST.

This virtual event is designed to prepare students for different parts of college life. A unique part of the conference is a blend of information and resources for students, parents, and families. Why? Going to college is more than a journey for students; it is often a family experience that takes planning and specific steps to succeed.

With a direct focus on 2025 high school graduates, college freshmen, and their parents, the organizer, Marilyn Gilbert-Mitchell, believes and practices family holistic college planning that starts early and partners with family members.

According to Gilbert-Mitchell, a veteran educator and college access professional, “so often parents and students focus on scholarships, which is an enormous concern for many families, yet they start the process late and overlook other critical parts of college success.”

Bringing several decades of combined professional experiences, the College Transition Conference is for the entire family with topics, resources, and action steps for everyone. Presenters are experts in their fields with roles and experiences across ages, levels, and demographics.

Students and parents are encouraged to register separately, watch together, and discuss afterwards to extend the conference experience.
