Norma Dream Album Release Party

Norma Dream Album Release Party

Fronted by Florence, MA native Norma Jean Haynes, Norma Dream is gracing the Bombyx stage to celebrate their debut studio release Mercy Drops. In addition to a full-band rendition of the record, this night features a screening of a new music video, "Strawberry Wine," shot on 16mm film and directed by award-winning filmmaker Lilit Danielyan, and a performance by the Mia Friedman Band.

Norma Dream features the lucid songwriting of Norma Jean Haynes, who has been described as "a beguiling stylist" in folk music, "marked by drama, beauty, and strangeness" (Midbrow Magazine). Alongside percussionist Will Amend, fiddler Camille Vogley-Howes, keys player Madden Alea, cellist Nino Soberon, and guitarist Eli Liguz, Norma Dream is an orchestral, playful, and absolutely captivating new voice in folk.

The show opens with the Mia Friedman band, an equally innovative new folk project. Played sparsely on banjo, fiddle and voice, Mia's music is often about being a mother, living in this world, and finding a way through the mess and the beauty. Backed by a band, she is joined by Hollow Deck partner, Andy Allen, trombonist Cale Israel, bassist Sean Riddle, and drummer Anders Griffen. Together they juxtapose elements of folk music, free jazz and sound collage to create something unique.

Dream Choir and members of the Young@Heart Chorus will also make appearances on this special night.
