The Laramie Project (An EHS Production)

The Laramie Project (An EHS Production)

In October 1998, Matthew Shepard, a 21-year-old college student, was brutally attacked and tied to a fence in a field outside of Laramie, Wyoming. Matthew succumbed to his wounds a few days later, and his murder became one of the most notorious anti-gay hate crimes in American history. Following his death, members of the Tectonic Theater Project in New York City traveled to Laramie to interview residents about how the attack on Matthew had affected the town, eventually using those interviews to construct a deeply moving theatrical experience. The Laramie Project is a breathtaking collage that explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion of which we are capable. EHS Drama students present The Laramie Project this year to mark the 25th anniversary of Matthew Shepard's death.
