Host, Word Matters

Emily Brewster is a Senior Editor and lexicographer at Merriam-Webster. As a general definer who has worked on the company's Collegiate®, Unabridged, Advanced Learner’s, and Merriam-Webster.com dictionaries, she covers all kinds of vocabulary, from prepositions to politics to slang. In addition to defining, she writes regularly about grammar, usage, and language change at Merriam-Webster.com, and speaks to audiences about lexicography and language in person and as a regular guest on WRSI, a radio station in western Massachusetts. A graduate of UMass Amherst with a degree in Linguistics and Philosophy, she is also a mother of two and co-owner of The Rendezvous, a pub and entertainment venue in Turners Falls, Mass.
