The Massachusetts Gaming Commission ha been temporarily blocked from publishing the findings of its investigation into casino magnate Steve Wynn.

A Las Vegas judge on Monday said she would hear arguments on Wynn's lawsuit alleging the report may have used confidential material.

Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez of Clark County District Court in Nevada granted a preliminary injunction sought by Wynn in his lawsuit against the Gaming Commission, the Associated Press reported late Monday afternoon.

Earlier in the day, Gaming Commission spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll said the commission was expecting the restraining order to be grant.

"We are still awaiting the final order from the court, and we will assess all of our options at that time," Driscoll said.

Wynn is suing the commission, its chief investigator and Wynn Resorts, claiming the company he founded and ran for years improperly gave the commission documents that should have been protected under attorney-client privilege and that the commission has used those documents as it investigates allegations of misconduct against Wynn and what Wynn Resorts executives knew of the allegations.

The injunction and subsequent legal maneuvering will further delay the Gaming Commission from releasing the findings of the commission's months-long investigation into Wynn and a decision on whether Wynn Resorts should be allowed to keep the casino license it has used to build a multi-billion dollar resort in Everett.

Encore Boston Harbor, the name given by Wynn resorts to the Everett casino, is scheduled to open in June 2019.
