The 1970 documentary 'Let It Be' is getting its first official release since 1981

STEVE INSKEEP, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep. A documentary called "Let It Be" about the making of a Beatles album of the same name is getting its first official release in decades. The film may feel familiar to some because its raw footage was the basis of Peter Jackson's eight-hour series "Get Back." This new old release is a mere 80 minutes long, restored by Jackson's production house, and is available to stream today on Disney+.

THE BEATLES: (Singing) We're going home.

INSKEEP: It's MORNING EDITION. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
