Acting Class with Dame Judi Dentures and Friends is part drag show, part theatrical monologue, and part interactive acting masterclass, taught by everyone’s favorite 1200-year-old drag grandma and featuring some delightful guest lecturers. Don’t miss this delicious, interactive evening at the intersection of clown and drag. Whether or not you are an aspiring actor, there’s something for everyone in this zany acting class for the ages.
“Judi has been brewing for a few years of my own life and 1200 years of her own mythology, so she has some perspective to share and shade to throw. It’s going to be a fun night, don’t miss it!" said Madden.
Guided by the one and only Dame Judi Dentures, a drag grandma clown with a passion for drama and unsolicited life advice, the show takes audiences on a riotous ride through a larger than life acting class. Expect queer clown chaos, multimedia fun, sassy puppets, audience participation, delicious guest appearances, and deeply human silliness in a genre-defying performance that pokes fun at tradition while celebrating it.
Blending elements of drag, classical theater, clown, commedia dell’arte, and performance art, Madden uses the persona of Judi Dentures to dig into the hilarity and heartbreak of being alive. Equal parts workshop and performance, the evening will include participatory moments, improvisation, and heartfelt clown logic.
