Belchertown’s Fourth Annual Pride Flag Raising Ceremony and Community Celebration
The Belchertown Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Task Force is excited to announce Belchertown’s Fourth Annual Pride Flag Raising Ceremony and Community Celebration to honor Pride Month, taking place on June 1st. The ceremony will begin at 1 pm at Memorial Town Hall, followed by an afternoon of festivities featuring food trucks and local vendors on the Belchertown Commons.
The ceremony will commence with remarks from Officer Vinnie Daponte and other community leaders.
As part of the event, town officials will be present to read the official proclamation declaring June as Pride Month in Belchertown. After the ceremony, attendees will be invited to march down Main Street, East Walnut Street, and Park Street before entering the town commons and continuing the festivities.
The event underscores Belchertown’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, celebrating the vibrancy and resiliency of the LGBTQ+ community.
“Everyone is welcome at Belchertown’s Pride celebration, which has grown year after year into something truly special,” said Select Board member Lesa Lessard Pearson. “This year, with over 50 vendors, a community march, a flag raising ceremony, and festivities spilling onto the Town Common, there’s a real sense of wonder and connection.”
Following the flag-raising ceremony and march, the community celebration will continue from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The public is invited to enjoy a variety of food trucks, local vendors, entertainment, and activities throughout the afternoon, including live music, a DJ, balloons, and face painting.
Lessard Pearson added, “I’m grateful to this year’s co-sponsors—the Belchertown DEI Task Force and the Belchertown Police Department—for their commitment to making this celebration open, safe, and inclusive for all.”
All residents and visitors are most welcome to attend and participate in this year’s Pride Flag Raising Ceremony and Community Celebration. Belchertown is and remains dedicated to fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment for all residents and visitors.
