Bombyx Brass Collective to Perform at Holyoke High School April 17
35-member semiprofessional brass and percussion ensemble to perform at Westfield Intermediate School April 10 and Holyoke High School April 17.
The Bombyx Brass Collective, a 35-piece semiprofessional brass choir, will perform at Westfield Intermediate School, 350 Southhampton Road, on April 10, and at Holyoke High School, 500 Beech Street, on April 17. Both evening performances begin at 6:30 and are open to the public free of charge. Donations will be accepted at the door going to support the school music programs.
Members of the ensemble will visit the schools during the day to work with music teachers and their students in each school, offering masterclasses, helpful tips, and an opportunity for the students to play music with these excellent musicians. The Holyoke High School Band will also be performing with the BBC on the 17th during the evening performance in the high school auditorium.
The Bombyx Brass is a resident ensemble of the Bombyx Center for Arts and Equity in Florence, MA. The ensemble, which began in January 2022, is comprised of active and retired music teachers, working professional musicians, and talented amateur musicians from throughout the region and is devoted to presenting quality music to diverse audiences. BBC members include active and retired music teachers, working professional musicians, and talented amateur musicians. In addition to their work with the BBC, members perform frequently throughout Western Mass in a wide variety of professional and amateur ensembles.
This project is made possible, in part, thanks to financial support from the Westfield and Holyoke Cultural Councils. For more information about the ensemble visit www.bombyxbrass.org. To learn more about all the other programming at the Bombyx Center, visit www.bombyx.live.
