Electric Earth Concerts presents Haydn, Brahms and Gubaidulina
Electric Earth Concerts is delighted to presents music by Haydn, Brahms and Gubaidulina on Sunday, June 29 at 4 pm at the First Church in Jaffrey, New Hampshire.
Johannes Brahms’ Quintet for clarinet and strings, a timeless masterwork, will bring back Rane Moore, who shone in last year’s Dreams and Prayers concert. The program begins with a piano trio by Haydn, architect of high classicism, that features EEC’s Laura Gilbert on flute rather than the usual violin (D major, Hob. XV:16). Sofia Gubaidulina’s blazing originality is already evident in her early Piano Quintet, which reveals her origins as a soviet composer under the sway of mentors like Shostakovich, but still bursts with her own unique talent and energy.
Laura Gilbert, flute; Rane Moore, clarinet; Rieko Aizawa, piano; Jesse Mills and Anna Elashvili, violins; Thomas Kraines, cello; and Jonathan Bagg, viola.
Tickets are $30, available online or at the door, payable by cash or check.
