How to listen to NEPM on your smart speaker

The new way to experience public radio is here! Below we have instructions for all the different ways you can access New England Public Media on your smart speaker device.

Your smart speaker just got smarter. With a few simple commands, you can access the entire world of New England Public Media — all the latest news, popular podcasts and discussions of the day. 

There are multiple ways to access NEPM through Alexa — you can stream your station through NEPM's Alexa Skill or through NPR. Give any of the commands below a try and hear public radio stories come alive on your Alexa-enabled device.

Here are some general commands to access the NEPM Alexa skill:

"Alexa, play New England Public Media."

You can say "Alexa, play New England Public Media..." to access the New England Public Media skill. Then:

  • “Play NEPM.”
  • “Play All Classical.”

Or, you can say, "Alexa, ask New England Public Media to browse programs."
You can also play NEPM podcasts: say, “Alexa, play… “

  • “…The Fabulous 413”
  • “…Beacon Hill in Five”
  • “…Jazz Beat”
  • “…Media Lab”
  • “…Short List”
  • “…Valley Voices”

Play the latest episode of a specific show or podcast.
"Alexa, play Morning Edition."

You can say "Alexa, play Morning Edition..."

  • Alexa will play the most recent Morning Edition on demand. 

To listen to NEPM through NPR, use the following commands:

"Alexa, play NPR."

Stream NEPM by choosing New England Public Media as your station. 

"Alexa, play New England Public Media."

Stream live from any public radio station in the country by saying the station name or call letters, i.e., "Alexa, play WFCR" or "Alexa, play New England Public Media."

"Alexa, play [show or podcast name]."

Play the latest episode of a specific show or podcast.

You can also ask your Amazon smart speaker:

"Alexa, play New England Public Media on TuneIn," to listen to 88.5 NEPM. Or, "Alexa, play Classical NEPM on TuneIn," to hear Classical NEPM.

Give any of the commands below a try and hear public radio stories come alive on Google Home voice-activated speaker powered by the Google Assistant.

Here are some general commands:

"Ok Google, play NPR."

Stream your local public radio station, New England Public Media.

"Ok Google, play the latest news from NPR."

Hear the latest five-minute newscast, updated every hour.

Stream live from any public radio station in the country by saying the station name or call letters, i.e., "OK Google, play WFCR." You can also ask, "OK Google, play NEPM on TuneIn" or, "OK Google, play Classical NEPM on TuneIn."

"Ok Google, play [show or podcast name]."

Play the latest episode of a specific show or podcast.
