Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is set to face a second round of questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday. Watch live here.
He’s expected to be questioned about his views on previous Supreme Court cases, as well as a range of policy issues.
Kavanaugh is also likely to be questioned about his work on Ken Starr’s independent counsel investigation of former President Bill Clinton, and his time working in the White House under former President George W. Bush.
On Wednesday, Kavanaugh was pressed on topics related to gun control and abortion. He stressed that as a native of the Washington, D.C., area, he is well-aware of the danger posed by gun violence. And he called the landmark Roe v. Wade decision in 1973 "an important precedent of the Supreme Court," but stopped short of saying whether he believes it was correctly decided.
Republicans, who control the Senate, hope to confirm Kavanaugh and cement a 5-4 conservative majority on the high court before its new term begins next month.
At 53, Kavanaugh would be the second-youngest member of the court and the second appointed by President Trump.
