Our panel of journalists looks at the big stories in the news.

What made The Short List this week?

  • A Massachusetts judge vacated the murder conviction of former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, which was being appealed at the time of his death. Prosecutors are planning their own appeal of this week's decision. (Boston Globe)
  • The Easthampton School Committee temporarily banned students from wearing the Confederate flag to school. This comes as racial tensions have been high at the city's high school. (NEPR)
  • Keeping daylight savings time throughout the year in parts of New England is gaining momentum with lawmakers in Maine and New Hampshire, while Massachusetts continues to ponder the idea. (NEPR)
