Aria Code Unpacks ‘Nessun Dorma’

Hosted by MacArthur “Genius” Fellow Rhiannon Giddens, the Aria Code podcast pulls back the curtain on some of the most famous arias in opera history. Each episode explores how these musical moments have imprinted themselves in our collective consciousness. For the Season 3 premiere, Metropolitan Opera Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin joins Giddens and other guests to explore “Nessun dorma,” a hopeful declaration of love and victory from Puccini’s Turandot. Showcasing a 1966 performance of the aria by legendary tenor Franco Corelli, the episode examines how the aria became a global anthem of resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Carey Larsen is a member of the Marketing, Events and Communications team. She is primarily responsible for creating and managing emails sent to members of the NEPM community. For WGBY, she was the development coordinator, pledge producer, volunteer coordinator and email marketing manager. Prior to that, she was the general manager of the Pioneer Valley Symphony. Carey is a professional musician. She serves as soprano soloist at the First Church of Christ in Longmeadow.
