For the last 12 months, the staff of New England Public Radio and WGBY public television have been working together to bring our organizations under one new roof.
We're now one new, independent media organization, with a new name, and a fresh new look.
Greater than the sum.
NEPM builds on the proud legacy and existing strengths of WGBY public television and New England Public Radio. We now deliver programming as a multi-platform resource across radio, TV, and digital media—meeting our audience where they are and engaging more community members than ever before. This integration allows our experienced reporters, thoughtful educators, dedicated producers, and engaging hosts to collaborate in ways that weren’t possible before—developing cross-platform content, performing deeper and more substantive journalism, and exploring new approaches such as short-form video and podcasts. We’re eager to identify—and share—the new stories we’ll be telling together.
From broadcast to podcast.
Today’s audiences have seemingly limitless media options at their fingertips. But in the age of “fake news” and growing income disparity, not all choices are created equal, and not all platforms are equally accessible. Public media—which maintains a strict firewall between advertising and news and prioritizes local issues—plays an increasingly significant role in educating, inspiring, and entertaining community members. If we’re to compete successfully with for- profit media outlets, we need to deliver exceptional programming, engage our existing audiences, and attract new members. By embracing innovative approaches to programming across multi- platform channels, we can create content our audience members will love and ensure they can access it wherever they are—on air, on screen, and online.
