Agawam, Massachusetts, Holds Preliminary Mayoral Election

Agawam, Massachusetts, will hold its preliminary mayoral election Oct. 10.

Voters in Agawam, Massachusetts, go to the polls Tuesday for a preliminary election in the city's mayoral race. 

Candidates vying to be the city's mayor include Vak Chonmany, who runs a martial arts gym; City Council President Jimmy Cichetti and former Agawam Superintendent Bill Sapelli.

The two candidates who receive the most votes will go on to the general election on Nov. 7. That vote will determine who will replace Mayor Richard Cohen, who is not seeking reelection after eight terms.

Polling places for Agawam's eight precincts are as follows:

  • Precinct 1: Robinson Park Elementary School
  • Precinct 2: Clifford Granger School
  • Precinct 3: Agawam High School
  • Precinct 4: Roberta Doering School
  • Precinct 5: Benjamin Phelps School
  • Precinct 6 and Precnct 8: James Clark School
  • Precinct 7: Agawam Junior High School

Polls are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
