Outgoing Berkshire District Attorney David Capeless speaks during a press conference in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on Thursday, March 1, 2018.

This week, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a law, opening the door to state legalizing sports gambling. And in Massachusetts, top state lawmakers say they should look into it, but stopped short of any commitment.

In Connecticut, Governor Dannel Malloywants to call the legislature into a special session to address this, while Rhode Island's governor is already counting on revenue from sports bets in her next budget.

Also this week, it came to light that former Berkshire District Attorney David Capeless was plotting his exit for a few months before retiring in early March. According to CommonWealth magazine, Capeless was working with Baker administration officials to orchestrate the move, which saw his top assistant appointed to D.A. Some, including two others running for the office this year, have cried foul.

On Beacon Hill, legislators heard testimony on a bill ban "meal shaming." That's when students are denied meals or given an alternative because their family owes money to the school cafeteria. Some say the kids shouldn't be punished, while others maintain the schools have to pay their food service bills.

And we wrap things up this week by taking a look at Union Station in Springfield. The City Council this week approved more than $140,000 to help make up a budget deficit at the recently renovated facility. And some councilors are worried about having to do this again in future years.
