The state of New Hampshire is indicting a couple for knowingly voting in more than one state in the 2016 presidential election.
Grace and John Fleming are charged with voting by absentee ballot in Hampden, New Hampshire, and then again in person in Belchertown, Massachusetts, where they were registered Republicans.
New Hampshire Public Radio reportedthe couple split their time between homes in each state. The Flemings say the double vote was an "honest mistake."
Belchertown gave information about the couple's voting record to New Hampshire several months ago.
"The first inkling that something was off was when the Attorney General in New Hampshire was calling for documents related to the presidential election," said Colleen Toothill-Berte, the town clerk in Belchertown.
The couple will be arraigned on October 5. They face a maximum penalty of 14 years in prison.
