Zombies Arrive In Springfield, Mass., Thanks To Renamed Basketball Team

The American Basketball Association team in Springfield, Massachusetts, has a new owner and a new name.

The team was known as the Springfield Sting.

Now it's called the Western Mass Zombies.

Bill Bullock is the new owner. He also owns a marketing company in Springfield. He said he's worked with the NHL and the NBA, and owned a professional basketball team in Michigan.

"I've been out of sports for about eight or nine years, and kinda missed it, and saw the opportunity to get a team up and revived in Springfield," Bullock said.

Bullock said the team will be playing games for charity this season, and won't start playing official ABA games until next season.

Bullock bought the team from Zach Baru. He's a high school teacher, and said he was just not able to keep up with the demands of being a full-time owner.

The Zombies' first game is December 1.
