Power went out early in the morning and was temporarily restored, but then went out again moments later. It was fully restored by 9 a.m.

The power went out at Bradley airport twice on Monday morning.

The outage shut down TSA screening checkpoints and delayed more than 20 departing flights.

Airport Authority director Kevin Dillon said shortly after the outage that it wasn’t immediately clear why the power failed.

“We’re working with Eversource on that right now,” Dillon said early Monday morning. “We have a cogeneration plant at the airport that supplies its own power, as well as power through Eversource, so we’re trying to find out why we lost that power. We don’t have that information right now.”

A spokesman for Eversource said it worked with airport officials to get power back up and running, but wouldn’t provide any further details.

Connecticut Public Radio reached out to the airport’s public information office Monday afternoon for an update after power was fully restored.

“At this time, we are fully processing passengers,” a spokesperson in Bradley’s public information office said. “However, we are advising passengers to please continue checking with their respective airline about any specific flights later in the day. We also continue fully to evaluate each component of our power systems.”

All inbound roads to Bradley were closed for a time after the power went out over safety concerns. The terminal was filling up with people who couldn’t get through to their planes.
