Delayed By Government Shutdown, Da Vinci Exhibit Opens In Pittsfield

After a delay caused by the government shutdown, an exhibit focused on the inventions of Leonardo da Vinci opens Saturday at the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

The exhibit, which features 40 working models, was supposed to arrive at the museum in mid-January, but didn't show up until last week.

It was at the George H.W. Bush Library in Texas, but couldn't be moved because of the partial government shutdown.

Craig Langlois, who's with the Berkshire Museum, said the wait was worth it.

"We have everything from devices that are designed to help you travel across water to collapsible bridges to battle tank to flying machine," Langlois said. "A lot of these machines never saw the light of day in terms of being constructed during his lifetime."

The da Vinci models will be on exhibit until mid-May.
