2 Die In Violent Crash Following Police Chase On Massachusetts-Connecticut Border

Enfield and Longmeadow police are investigating a double fatal accident on Rte. 5 at the state line. Witnesses say a pickup truck being pursued by police sped through an intersection and struck a mail carrier's truck.

Enfield and Longmeadow police are investigating a double fatal accident on Rte. 5 at the state line. Witnesses say a pickup truck being pursued by police sped through an intersection and struck a mail carrier's truck.

Authorities have released the names of two men who died a in a violent crash involving a pickup and a mail delivery truck on the Massachusetts-Connecticut border following a police chase. 

The Hampden district attorney's office in a statement said Enfield, Connecticut, police were pursuing a pickup driven by David Cersosimo, 47, at about 11 a.m. Thursday because he failed to stop after sideswiping another vehicle.

The pursuit crossed the state line into Longmeadow, Massachusetts, where the pickup collided with a U.S. Postal Service vehicle, driven by Daniel Nacin, 59. A report on MassLive.com cites a U.S. Postal Service spokeswoman saying Nacin was a 40-year veteran of the postal service and worked out of the Enfield post office.

Cersosimo, of Rocky Hill, Connecticut, and Nacin, of Enfield, were taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield where they were pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation.
