The city clerk of Northampton, Massachusetts, said her office mailed ballots to some voters with the wrong address to send them back.
Earlier this month, roughly 6,500 mail-in ballots were sent to Northampton voters, but some return envelopes were addressed to Stow, Massachusetts.
Northampton City Clerk Pam Powers said the mailers came from the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s office.
Powers said she doesn’t know how many had the wrong address, but she’s alerted the town clerk in Stow.
"I intend to provide her with a mail-back overnight express box, and if they receive any that are supposed to be Northampton that they get them back to us," Powers said.
Powers said she’s notified voters who were possibly impacted and sent them envelopes with the right address. She said they can call her office or go to trackmyballotma.com to make sure their ballots have been received.
A spokeswoman for Secretary of the Commonwealth Bill Galvin said the incorrect addresses were caused by a sorting issue by an outside vendor. She said the office is unaware of similar problems in other communities.
