Archaeology Lecture on the Acropolis in Athens, Greece
Free public lecture by Dr. Yannis Hamilakis on “ The (Re)Making of the Acropolis from the 1830s to the Present.” Dr. Hamilakis is a Professor of Archaeology and Modern Greek Studies at Brown University. He is an archaeologist, writer, and exhibition curator, and a current Guggenheim Fellow. He is a prolific contributor to archaeological theory, with interests touching on the socio-politics of the past, the body and bodily senses, the archaeology of contemporary migration, and critical pedagogy. He directs two active archaeology projects in central Greece and the island of Lesvos.
