Birds have lured Zach Adams on adventures in varied ecosystems throughout New England, across the United States, and even abroad. He has trudged through alder swamps, trotted through bogs, and canoed oxbows of the Housatonic River. Throughout his career in conservation— working with National Audubon, Mass Audubon, and Northwest Connecticut Land Conservancy, and now Trout Unlimited— Zach’s knowledge and enthusiasm have helped hundreds of people connect with birds.

His debut book, published this June, is a comprehensive guide to the birds of New England. Join us as he talks about the making of the book, his experiences as a local birder, helpful tips on all aspects of birding, and more!

Vermont's oldest agricultural fair will celebrate its 179th season with midway rides for the whole family, Freestyle FMX Show, Extreme Raptors birds of prey show, live music, livestock events, Pirate Man Dan, Children's Tent activities, a maple sugar house, milking parlor, chainsaw carving, demonstrations, favorite fair food and more.

Fair highlights:
• Wednesday - Tractor Parade (5pm), Little Lies - Fleetwood Mac tribute (7pm)
• Thursday - Farm Tractor Pull (10am), Green Mountain Wrestling (7pm)
• Friday - Kingdom's Got Talent (2pm), 4x4 Truck Pull (6pm)
• Saturday - Gymkhana (10am), Horse Pull FFA (6:30pm), The Conniption Fits (8pm)
• Sunday - Power Wheels Demo Derby (12:30pm), Extreme Demo Derby Finals (6pm)

Fair admission (includes unlimited rides, shows & entertainment): $15 Wednesday; $20 Thursday; $25 Friday - Sunday ($20 online before 4pm Aug. 20); $15 for ages 65+ on Friday. Kids under 36" tall are admitted free. Parking is free.

Puzzling Adventures are a cross between a scavenger hunt, an adventure race, and an informative self-guided walking tour. Each adventure consists of a series of locations that you are guided to where you are required to answer a question or solve a puzzle to receive your next instruction. Compete as a group, individually or create multiple teams and race each other. Almost all of our adventures are designed to be wheelchair and stroller friendly and all are carefully crafted to be entertaining and informative with something to appeal to all ages. Complete the adventure as quickly as possible to win first place or take your time and enjoy the journey. Price is per team, not per person. Groups can be any size, but small groups are recommended for the best experience.

The Norman Rockwell Museum is honored to present a rare series of early twentieth century lighting advertisements by Norman Rockwell and fellow Golden Age illustrators Maxfield Parrish, N.C. Wyeth, Dean Cornwell, Stanley Arthurs, Worth Brehm, and Charles Chambers created for Edison Mazda Lamps, a division of the General Electric Company. These luminous, richly painted works were widely circulated in published advertisements through the 1920s and are on loan to the Museum for the first time through the generosity of GE Aerospace.

The Nulhegan Abenaki Heritage Gathering will be held at Mount Norris Scout Reservation on August 23 - 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to noon on Sunday. Throughout the weekend there will be singing, storytelling, drumming, and dancing along with other activities to be enjoyed by adults and children. For example, you will have the opportunity to learn how to pound ash and throw a tomahawk. There will also be Abenaki vendors so you can go shopping! Please note that this is always an alcohol and drug-free event. The event will be held rain or shine due to the availability of an indoor facility. Lunch will be provided to the public on Saturday. Donations will be accepted. This is a free event. Only Service Dogs allowed.

Local transgender artist Jacob Clayton's black and white photo series Paradise City POV focuses on the intangible imprint that the glaring public display of acceptance in Northampton, Massachusetts, will have on those navigating a difficult path in life.

Debuting during Arts Night Out in the Emerging Artist Showcase from August 2 through August 29, 2025, at the Barn Door Gallery – 33 Hawley Street, Northampton. The opening reception is Friday, August 8 from 5 to 8 PM. Artist talk at 7PM. Admission is free.

World Premiere - This groundbreaking new music theater piece by Eric Henry Sanders, reconfigures a fascinating conversation between legendary composer Philip Glass and visual artist Fredericka Foster. A lyrical duet between two living artists exploring time, memory, and the creative process. The performance integrates the music of Glass, performed live on piano and percussion. Presented by Tanglewood (TLI) in collaboration with MIFA Victory Theatre and Ensemble for the Romantic Century
