Raquel Obregon
Tertulia Producer/HostRaquel was born in Lima, Peru. She graduated from the University of San Marcos, where she studied Mathematics, and subsequently became a high school math teacher. She began working at New England Public Media in 2004, as the co-host of Tertulia. In 2010 Raquel took over as full-time host of the program.
She enjoys sharing Latin music with her listeners, including music from all over the world as long as it’s related to Latin music and culture. Tertulia also features a diversity of guests such as musicians, writers, poets, doctors and leaders of different organizations who bring information that can benefit the community. The program is presented in a bilingual format.
Aside from Tertulia, Raquel enjoys helping Spanish-speaking people communicate with their healthcare providers. Doing this has inspired her to become a medical interpreter.
