New England Public Media and Springfield Public Forum Join for Post-Election Discussion

SPRINGFIELD, MA (November 13, 2020) In the wake of the November election and with many questions still unanswered, New England Public Media (NEPM) and the Springfield Public Forum will host a free virtual discussion: “Election 2020: What’s Next?” on Tuesday, November 17 at 7:30 p.m. The event will feature a conversation with NPR senior political correspondent Domenico Montanaro and Weekend All Things Considered host Michel Martin. NEPM’s Kari Njiiri will moderate the discussion.

The two presenting organizations have worked together for many years with New England Public Media being a longstanding Media Sponsor for Springfield Public Forum events. “This is a natural collaboration between two local partners to present an informative program from nationally-renowned experts in political discourse” said Vanessa Cerillo, Senior Director of Marketing, Communications, and Events for NEPM.

Michel Martin is the weekend host of All Things Considered. Martin came to NPR in 2006 and launched the NPR daily news and talk show Tell Me More. She joined NPR from ABC News, where she served as correspondent for Nightline from 1996 to 2006, reporting on congressional budget battles, the U.S. embassy bombings in Africa, racial profiling, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and more. Before joining ABC, Martin covered state and local politics for the Washington Post and national politics and policy at the Wall Street Journal, where she was White House correspondent. She has also been a regular panelist on the PBS series Washington Week.

Domenico Montanaro is NPR's senior political editor/correspondent. Based in Washington, D.C., his work appears on air and online delivering analysis of the political climate in Washington and campaigns and edits political coverage. Montanaro joined NPR in 2015 and oversaw coverage of the 2016 presidential campaign. Before joining NPR, Montanaro served as political director and senior producer for politics and law at PBS NewsHour. There, he led domestic political and legal coverage, including the 2014 elections, the Supreme Court, and the unrest in Ferguson, Mo. Prior to PBS NewsHour, Montanaro was deputy political editor at NBC News, where he covered two presidential elections and reported and edited for the network's political blog, "First Read."

“Both NEPM and the Springfield Public Forum are non-profit, non-partisan organizations whose goals of learning and connection through community events align to bring important conversations like this event to the Valley,” stated Michelle Morash, Executive Director of the Springfield Public Forum.

The event is free and open to the public, however pre-registration is required through NEPM’s website (NEPM.org) or the Forum’s website (springfieldpublicforum.org)
