NEPR Launches a New Pilot: "The Vault Sessions"

Vault Sessions
Joyce Skowyra for NEPR
Matthew Szlachetka

New England Public Radio has just released the first episode in a new series it's producing with Laudable Productions. The Vault Sessions made its debut on Thursday with an acoustic set by Matthew Szlachetka, a Nashville-based musician with roots in western Massachusetts. Szlachetka's Americana aesthetic was recently highlighted in Rolling Stone where he was featured as one of the "ten new country artists to know in 2017." He plays The Parlor Room in Northampton, Massachusetts on Saturday, April 29.

The Vault Sessions will feature intimate video recordings filmed live at NEPR's space in downtown Springfield, Massachusetts. Local and nationally touring musicians will play short sets in front of the architectural centerpiece of the station's headquarters - a room-sized vintage bank vault.  The sessions will be released the same day on NEPR's social media channels and posted to its website.

"NEPR has been showcasing the incredible jazz and classical scene in the region for decades on the air," said Vanessa Cerillo, Executive Director of Marketing and Communications at New England Public Radio. "We're excited to experiment with a new way to present music and to explore different genres in this space."

The Vault Sessions are produced by Kyle Homstead of Laudable Productions, with support from Aerial Camera Services and microphones by  TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik.
