NEPM television director to receive regional Silver Circle Award from NATAS
Springfield, Mass., Dec. 9, 2021 – New England Public Media is proud to announce that TV director Marc Rhinehart will be inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ “Silver Circle,” tonight during a live virtual event. Established in 1993, the Silver Circle Award honors television professionals for 25 or more years of service to the television industry.
“Marc has been instrumental in almost every venture and community-based programming we have created for television,” said Keith Clark, NEPM’s director of local production and production services. “Throughout the years, his cool, calm and collective approach to making TV has had a profound impact on co-workers, interns and guests alike.”
Rhinehart has directed countless TV broadcasts in the field, including the nationally recognized 2012 debate between Scott Brown and Elizabeth Warren at Symphony Hall in Springfield, Desmond Tutu’s visit to the region, the Dalai Lama’s visit to Smith College, and Al Gore’s visit to Hampshire College.
In-studio at NEPM’s headquarters in downtown Springfield, he has directed hundreds of episodes of Connecting Point, The State We’re In, Presencia, Together in Song, and more.
“All I can say is that this is a complete surprise to me because I am not an award-wanting person. I just enjoy doing the work,” said Rhinehart. “This one is different because you are nominated by your peers in the industry for the work you have done and surviving in this business for this long.”
Rhinehart and five additional inductees will be celebrated at a virtual Gala Ceremony with their family and peers this evening, Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021 at 7 p.m. Viewers are able to watch online at NewEnglandEmmy.org and via the Academy’s Boston/New England social and digital platforms including Facebook and Twitter.
