We take a look at a unanimous vote taken by the Springfield, Massachusetts, City Council, as it passed an order saying the city will not interfere with institutions granting sanction to immigrants.
The order is in response to Mayor Domenic Sarno's objections to the South Congregational Church granting sanctuary to a Peruvian woman facing deportation.
Next, we discuss a plan for UMass to acquire the cash-strapped Mount Ida College in Newton. President Marty Meehan says the property would be used to give UMass Amherst students access to internships and training from Greater Boston businesses. The Massachusetts Senate said this week it plans to investigate, and some feel this is a slap in the face for UMass Boston.
And a deal was announced this week between the financially-struggling Berkshire Museum and a yet-to-open California museum co-founded by "Star Wars" creator George Lucas. The museum in Pittsfield is selling Norman Rockwell's "Shuffleton's Barbershop," which is valued somewhere between $20 to $30 million. It's part of the Berkshire Museum's controversial plans to sell off part of its art collection.
