Crosby Quits Gambling Board, And Baker Way Up In Poll

Steve Crosby, who chaired the Massachusetts Gaming Commission from its start seven years ago, resigned from the job this week.

He saidhe didn't want to be a distraction after he was accused of bias by both sides regarding construction of the Wynn Casino near Boston. The commission is investigating the Wynn Resorts' handling of sexual assault claims against the company's founder.

Also this week, a WBUR pollshows Massachusetts Republican Governor Charlie Baker holds a large lead over Democratic challenger Jay Gonzalez. The incumbent had a 44-point lead, and nearly half of those responding said they hadn't even heard of Gonzalez. Still, the Democratic challenger said he's not worried.

In Connecticut, candidates for Governor had another debate this week, and it was the first time independent canddiate Oz Griebel was on the stage with both Democrat Ned Lamont and Republican Bob Stefanowski.

And as we wind towards the November general election, voters in both Massachusetts and Connecticut will have ballot questions before them when they go to the polls. And one of our panelists is no fan of statewide referendums
