The new president of Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, says the school is financially stable after reducing its staff.
In 2016, Hampshire College faced a budget deficit of $2.6 million.
The new president, Miriam Nelson, said the school's finances are in better shape now, after the former president and the board made some changes, including trimming the number of employees.
"Through the voluntary separation agreement and the early road to retirement, we lost 30 faculty and staff combined -- total," Nelson said.
Nelson said Hampshire is not planning any further workforce reductions this year.
The school says its endowment has grown to more than $55 million.
