Senior ReporterNancy Eve Cohen is a senior reporter focusing on Berkshire County. Previously she served as the editor of the Northeast Environmental Hub, a collaborative of more than a dozen public radio stations.
Earlier in her career she was the Midwest editor for NPR in Washington, D.C.
Before working in radio, she produced environmental television documentaries.
As part of a camera crew, Nancy also recorded sound for network television news, with assignments in Russia, Guatemala, Mexico, Cuba and in Sarajevo during the war in 1992.

Jacob "Jake" Galliher was among eight service members who died last month when an Osprey aircraft crashed during a training mission off southwestern Japan. The crash led the U.S. military to ground its fleet of Ospreys while the investigation into the accident continues.

At a meeting held in Lee, Massachusetts, this week, General Electric presented its plan to use trucks and hydraulic pumps to move toxic waste out of the Housatonic River. Many in the town want the waste to be moved via rail and brought to an out of state licensed facility. The EPA's cleanup plan includes a toxic waste disposal facility to be constructed in Lee.

The Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, is repatriating the remains of two Native people, believed to be an adult and an adolescent, to the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians.

The play, "Unreconciled," opens in Easthampton, Massachusetts this week. It tells the story of a clergy abuse survivor who rejects a settlement from the church. Written by two survivors of abuse, it tells the story from multiple perspectives, including the perpetrator.

General Electric has disbursed $55 million plus interest to five towns along the Housatonic River. The payments are part of a toxic waste cleanup settlement reached in 2020. GE said it will pay the city of Pittsfield $8 million next month.
