The MGM Springfield casino reported a bump in gambling revenues in October.

MGM said revenues totaled a little over $21 million last month — the highest since May, though a bit under the same month a year ago.

Lesley Taggart plays the slots at MGM, and said she comes three times a week from Mount Vernon, New York.

"I take three trains and a bus. Four and a half hours," she said.

Taggart said she was having a good day.

"I came in. I won some money. I'm heading home early," she said.

Daniel Derby of Vernon, Connecticut, said he also visits MGM Springfield a few times a week to play the slots. But he wasn't having as much luck.

"I lost about 40 bucks earlier, and I got a little bit of free play, so I'm going to go try that and see if I get some of it back," he said.

The Encore Boston Harbor casino in Everett, which opened in June, reported its revenues dropped by about $3 million from September.
