Stephen has been a classical music host at New England Public Media since 2016. Currently, he is the classical music director at University of Hartford’s radio station WWUH 91.3. Stephen studied at Seneca College in Canada (where he was valedictorian) and Central Connecticut State University. He has a graduate degree from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He has performed with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra as the barking dog in Walter Piston’s The Incredible Flutist. He is from a very musical family. Stephen’s father was a singer; mother a pianist and teacher for 30 years. His sister played clarinet while his brother played the trombone. Stephen, himself, is not as musical, but played shortstop in baseball.

As the 2024 election season unfolds, the Latino Election Project, an NEPM partnership with The Latino Newsletter, featuring the work of student producers Ian Burger, Halima Mohamed and Evanni Santos with support from Donyel Le’Noir Felton, is reporting on election cycle stories through the lens of the Latino community in western Massachusetts.

Matthew S. Schwartz is a reporter with NPR's news desk. Before coming to NPR, Schwartz worked as a reporter for Washington, DC, member station WAMU, where he won the national Edward R. Murrow award for feature reporting in large market radio. Previously, Schwartz worked as a technology reporter covering the intricacies of Internet regulation. In a past life, Schwartz was a Washington telecom lawyer. He got his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, and his B.A. from the University of Michigan ("Go Blue!").
