May 13, 2024: The wings of the workforce

Not enough workers, too many jobs. The NEPM newsroom is tackling the big picture in the series, "Short-Staffed," and we're joining the conversation with Mark Melnick, the director of the economic and public policy research at UMass Donahue Institute. His expertise helps us break down the local and national labor shortage and why we are seeing more 'help wanted' signs around.

Local author and professor Naila Moreira shows the beauty of the natural world with her new middle-grade novel, “The Monarchs of Winghaven.” Coming out May 14, the book release will be celebrated at Broadside Books in Northampton. We chat with her about the importance of encouraging young naturalists to explore the world around them.

Plus, Mr. Universe and Hampshire professor Salman Hameed draws parallels between the aurora borealis and the UMass protests
